Recall dos hondas Fit e City

A Honda anunciou um recall que envolverá aproximadamente 127.000 unidades do City e novo Fit no Brasil. O motivo da chamada é o sensor do pedal do acelerador eletrônico, cuja falta de vedação adequada permite com que sujeira do assoalho entre no componente, podendo causar problemas de aceleração e desaceleração do motor. Segundo a marca, a falha será sanada com a inserção de uma proteção adicional.

O chassi dos veículos envolvidos no recall vão de 93HGE87709Z100001 a 93HGE6760BZ103544 para o Fit (ano/modelo a partir de 2009) e de 93HGM2660AZ100032 a 93HGM2620BZ110022 no caso do City (ano/modelo 2010 em diante).

A Honda informa que o reparo dos veículos começará a ser realizado nesta próxima segunda-feira (18) em qualquer uma de suas concessionárias. A empresa também comunica que o procedimento é simples, mas recomenda o agendamento prévio para sua realização. A Volkswagen Amarok, a primeira pick-up global da marca alemã venceu a primeira edição do prémio "International Pick-Up Of The Year 2011" apresentado na 63ª Salão Internacional de Hanôver, a mais importante exposição europeia de veículos comerciais e industriais.

A pick-up da Volkswagen conquistou 61 dos 91 pontos em discussão, relegando para segundo plano a Toyota Hilux e a Nissan Navara, respectivamente segundo e terceiro classificados.

Com lançamento no mercado português agendado para o próximo mês de Outubro, a gama da Amarok será composta por duas variantes do motor 2.0 TDi com potências entre os 122 e os 163 cavalos (biturbo), e três tipos de tracção: 4x4 permanente, 4x4 não permanente (ambas denominadas 4Motion) ou simples tracção traseira 4x2.

A Amarok 4Motion com tracção total não permanente distingue-se exteriormente pelo “4” vermelho na sigla do modelo, enquanto o Amarok 4Motion com “4” a preto na sua identificação, apresenta-se com tracção total permanente e como uma solução para quem privilegia o conforto. Em todos os três sistemas de tracção existe um bloqueio electrónico do diferencial que melhora a tracção em todos os tipos de terreno. Adicionalmente um bloqueio mecânico do diferencial traseiro estará igualmente disponível, para as utilizações mais difíceis.

A gama estará articulada em três níveis de equipamento – Entry, Trendline e Highline, sendo que todas as versões estarão equipadas, de série, com airbags, ESP, ASR e ABS. Os preços para o mercado português ainda não foram anunciados.

Mitsubishi Strada Triton

The Mitsubishi Triton is a compact pickup truck produced by Mitsubishi Motors. It was originally known as the Mitsubishi Forte in Japan from 1978 to 1986, when the name was discontinued in favour of the Strada. For most export markets the name L200 is used, while Storm was used for Malaysia during the early 2000s. It was previously known as the Rodeo in South Africa until 2007. Cumulative sales of the first three generations now exceed 2.8 million units around the world.

In the United States two captive imports of the Forte were sold by the Chrysler Corporation from 1979, as the Dodge Ram 50 and Plymouth Arrow Truck. Mitsubishi itself imported it as the Mighty Max when it began selling directly in the U.S. from 1982, at which point the Plymouth ceased to be available. The fourth generation Triton, built in Mitsubishi’s subsidiary in Thailand and launched in 2005, is exported to 140 global markets.

World Cheapest Car has been Unveiled

Indian car manufacturer, Tata Motors, has unveiled the world’s cheapest motor car at India’s biggest car show in the capital, Delhi. The four-door five-seater car, which goes on sale later this year, has a 33bhp, 624cc, engine at the rear. Tata will initially make about 250,000 Tata Nanos and expects eventual annual demand of one million cars. The price will be slightly more than the 100,000 once tax and other costs are taken into consideration. The Nano release comes as India’s domestic car market is predicted to soar in the coming years on the back of the country’s fast-growing economy and increased consumer wealth.

The Moller Skycar is a prototype personal VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircraft — a “flying car” — called a “volantor” by its inventor Paul Moller, who has been attempting to develop such vehicles for many years. The design calls for four ducted fans – the propellors being covered which is safer and more efficient at low speeds.

The Skycar might use a system like the Small Aircraft Transportation System (SATS) in 3D “crowded” airspace areas. Further, developers claim that by using eight inexpensive Wankel rotary engines – compared to jet engines, the vehicle’s price may eventually fall close to that of a luxury car ($100,000), even if at the moment the price for the first units is expected to be close to USD$1 million.

A smaller version of the low-emissions Wankel engine from the M400 was slated for the Moller M200X, and these engines runs on a mixture of 70% (bio)ethanol and 30% water. Earlier models used gasoline. The ethanol/water fuel mixture makes the fuel almost totally non-flammable outside the engines, which dramatically lowers the fire hazard. The water cools the engines, with a higher usable compression and the result is better performing engines than with 100% ethanol. The mixture makes the engine pollution lower than the California strict SULEV standard (Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle). Even with pure ethanol the engines fulfills the SULEV standard.

The Skycar demonstrated limited tethered flight capability in 2003. Scheduled tethered flight tests, that were to occur in mid-2006, were apparently canceled. Moller upgraded the Skycar’s engines in 2007, and the improved prototype is now called the “M400X”. Additional flight tests were supposedly to be conducted once Moller engineers have completed the upgrades to the Skycar’s nacelles with the larger engines. Recently, the skycar has gone through several permulations after wind testing. The wind testing has allowed the engineers of Moller International to actually improve safer landings and ground stability.
